Hannah and Clinton

Stu our musician and poet.

Hanging out on the feluccas. We sailed down the river Nile for three days and had an amazing time.

Paintings on the wall of a Nubian house. A lot of Nubians who originally came from the Sudan had to relocate to Egypt because their land was flooded by the lake Nasser which is a result of the Aswan highdam.

This was about the most traditional place I've ever seen, but you still can't escape the global players such as Nestlé...

A Nubian village, don't remember the name though.

The second statue got destroyed by an earthquake.

The temple of Ramses II in Abu Simbel. He actually claimed to dedicate this temple to Neferteri, the daughter of a Nubian king who became his wife in order to get the support of the Nubians. There are a few statues of Neferteri but in the inside the temple is mainly about what a cool lad Ramses himself was...

This symbol is very popular. It's called Ankh which means key of life.

This shows how a king offers something to Horus the falcon god. A lot of kings ordered the architects of the temples to include scenes like this to demonstrate that they genuinely believe in the Egyptian gods.

Scene at Philae temple.

Aswan and the river Nile. The Egyptians believed that the west bank of the Nile was the land of the dead and the east bank the land of the living. Therefore they buried the dead on the westside.

Aswan

The city of Aswan.

Every single of the 97 pyramids has a Sphinx however only eight have been excavated.

Lloyd, Hannah and Clint, I hope you guys don't mind...

There are a lot of stories on how the Sphinx lost its nose. The theory on which Egyptologists seem to agree is that beduines demolished the nose because the Sphinx was located on some holy place and they didn't want the people to come and have a look.

I'd like to delete it but my friends won't believe that I've been there so here you are...

On the right hand side you can see a shattered small pyramid. Acutally every pyramid had three small pyramids for the daughters and the wives. At that time kings and pharaos used to have plenty of wives and daughters but only the older ones had the honour to be buried in a pyramid.
