A relationship like leaves

You're picking up the leaves of your relationship
And patching them back on the tree again
It doesn't want its dead leaves back
You stroll around looking for a glue
Strong enough to stick them back
Although you know
That even if you find one that's strong enough
The leaves will never turn green again

I love clouds, isn't this a cool closing pic?

This is the sort of thing you should watch out for or, as Melissa put it, you might give it a hug.

Stuart and Clinton

Clint: 'Nicole look!'
Nicole:'What's wrong with it?'
Clint:'What's wrong??? Do you think we can get some previously unchewed bread in this place???'

Our last night :-(

This was before my stupid camel tried to throw me off. I actually didn't know that camels jump until mine did. For some reason unknown to me I managed to stay up there...

Chris is not looking that happy because Clinton's camel was constantly licking Chris's camel's arse. I think Chris was a bit scared the camel would turn to his ...

Yeah I know, it's a really touristy picture

Near the camel stalls.

...wouldn't want to live here. Housing is ridiculously expensive in Cairo. People pay monthly installments for about 60-80 years, same with the cars. However if an Egyptian can afford a satellite receiver he'll get about 2000 channels for free for the rest of his life. That's one of the reasons why Egyptians like to talk to foreigners, to find out if we're anything like what the saw in tv.

From far away the buildings may look nice...

I can't believe how clean it looks.

While walking down the streets of Cairo people always start talking to you. Some guy called Khaled turned up and wanted to show us around. We followed him until we nearly walked straight into some kind of riot....

Another unknown treasure. Too bad it was closed otherwise I might have found out what this acutally is.

...

These cars don't stop for you to cross. You close your eyes, pray (believe me in the streets of Cairo even an atheist will do it) and walk.

Streets of Cairo. Here you have to be prepared for anything. While you might try to jump aside to avoid getting run over by one of these insane drivers you might literally walk into a cow carcass.

Cairo mosque.

I don't remember the name of this mosque. Anyone? It's in Cairo that's the only thing I know.

Stuart and Liz

Did it hit the bull's eye?

Liz, Georgie and Clinton

Playing darts...

This is actually one of the rare pictures where Chris looks shaved. Honestly I've never seen a guy whose facial hair grow so quickly;-).

Tyce, Nicole our tour leader and Chris

They're not as pissed as the look;-)

The valley of the workers who created the tombs.

The fab 13.

The Valley of the Kings

We rode to the Valley of the Kings on donkeys. What a shame I have no picture of Fred Astaire, my donkey. Donkeys are cool, I'm thinking of getting one to go to work...

Karnak temple in Luxor.

One of them is Hatsheput's obelisk. She was the first female ruler. She reigned for seven years before her nephew Tuthmosis II destroyed all her temples, attempted to erase her name from the history books and killed her (we still don't know how...)

All the temples used to be coloured but most of it has faded away. Apart from Karnak temple colours can be seen within the tombs but it is not permitted to take photos of those.

There are two obelisks at Karnak temple. I don't know whether this is Hatsheput's one or not.

Some random Nubian village somewhere between Edfu and Luxor.

Edfu temple is one the best preserved of all temples in Egypt.

Christian missionaries tried to destroy the pictures but the carvings were pretty deep. The only thing they could to was to wipe out the faces of the gods.

Horus, the son of Isis and Osiris.

Edfu temple. Apparantly this is the only temple in Egypt where everything is symmetrical. I was too tired to notice but you see it nicely on this pic

She'll be dancing like an Aussie when she comes, that's what the Nubians played on their drums.

Tyce might have discovered a Geanie in his bottle...

A few hours before the skinny dipping;-)

Listening to the songs Stuart and Hannah wrote, Sailing and Imaginitive Traveller. Hey guys, it's a shame you guys can't team up to create more songs.

This is the only sunset picture I have and you don't even see the sun. I was, once again, too slow.

Nicole, Clinton, Mahmoud, Stuart, Georgie and Liz.

Was it here that we had this amazing debate whether the second toe should be bigger than the first or not???

Hmm what's the matter Mel???

Not for all the money in the world would I sail down the Nile on a cruise boat. A felucca is an amazing thing because there is no noise apart from the rattling of the sail, the splash of the waves and the wind oh yeah and the sound of Stu playing the guitar.

Evening on the felucca

This is the only picture of Komombo temple I took because it was boiling hot and I just wanted to chill out on the boat...
