Freakonomics

Unsurprisingly Freakonomics is created out of the words Economics and Freak and that's exactly what this book is about. Like almost everybody else, Stephen D. Levitt couldn't care less about all that boring crap that fills the business pages. But unlike most people who don't care he is an economist. He is the freak genius who thought that economics might be able to answer some everyday questions like why crack dealers live at home with their moms, why the crime rate suddenly declined for no obvious reason or what sumo wrestlers and teachers have in common.
Economics doesn't have to be boring. In fact this book was like a thriller and I read it in less than 24 hours. He unveils that common sense does not at all always make sense. He questions the world around him and tries to find answers. To do that he uses economic methodology but it's never complicated or boring, it's just enough to get an idea how he solves problems. In fact this book is so cool that I'm thinking about taking an economics class in 2008.
